Melanie Rzeszutek is part of the loan processing department supporting Minnesota Lakes Bank’s loan teams in Delano and Mound. She is responsible for residential, commercial, and consumer loan processing, which includes everything involving the loan process from start to finish. Melanie is known for her attention to detail and dedication to getting things right; she plays a key role in making sure each loan is handled smoothly and efficiently.
Before Melanie joined Minnesota Lakes Bank, she began her career in lending as a mortgage broker. She loved everything about it but realized she was especially drawn to the loan process. With a background in sales and a knack for understanding lender guidelines, Melanie thrived in matching clients with the right solutions. That passion led her into processing and underwriting, eventually bringing her to private mortgage banking. A move back to Minnesota opened the door to Minnesota Lakes Bank, and she has been part of the team ever since.
This role is a learning experience for Melanie, and it involves a wide range of responsibilities within loan processing, from post-closing and loan maintenance to both commercial and consumer lending. With so much to learn, she is embracing the challenge with patience and perspective. “There is a lot of new information to take in,” she said, “so I would have to say my challenge is giving myself some grace during the learning process.”
Melanie grew up in Alaska. In her early twenties, she made her way to Minnesota after receiving a job offer. This is where she met her husband, Michael. Michael and Melanie come from large families and they love being surrounded by them. Together, they have nine nieces and two nephews. The married couple has two cats, Mikko and Saku.
When Melanie’s not working, she spends a lot of her time watching sports. She specifically loves watching college hockey, professional hockey, and college football. Now that she is back in Minnesota, she is coming around to the idea of rooting for the Vikings. When the weather is nice, she likes to get outside and play golf.
One of Melanie’s favorite parts of working for Minnesota Lakes Bank is the company’s volunteering efforts and community focus. Melanie said, “From the time I was a child, my family was always deeply involved in community projects and volunteering, so being a part of a bank that is so involved in community warms my heart.” That shared commitment to community is one of the reasons Melanie feels so at home at MNLB. It’s a place where her values and her work go hand in hand.
